Souvenir, Play by Stephen Temperley

souvenir event.jpg

Back by popular demand, Temperley’s biographical play is about dissonant diva Florence Foster Jenkins, the amateur operatic soprano known-and ridiculed-for her lack of rhythm, pitch, and ton; for her aberrant pronunciation; and for her generally poor singing ability.  Her Philadelphia and New York recitals were well attended and elicited as much laughter as applause — as it will from you as well.  She famously put it: “people may say I can’t sing, but on one can ever say I didn’t sing.”
