Daniel Rich, Baritone, has performed with Frostburg Opera as King Balthazar in Amahl and The Night Visitors by Menotti, with Morgan Opera in scenes from On the Town, as Daniel Webster in The Devil and Daniel Webster by Moore, and premiered the role of Surnani in the operetta, Qadar,by Tony Small. Qadar was a commissioned piece by The Smithsonian museum and the Sultanate of Oman with Artistic Direction by Denyce Graves. Credits from MSM Opera Theater include Horseman in Strauss' Rosenkavalier, Falstaff (Cover) in Verdi's Falstaff, Alidoro in Rossini's La Cenerentola and Calais in The Harpies by Blitzstein. Daniel has enjoyed early success not only as a young opera singer but as a recitalist (A Night of Song  & Celebrating the Diaspora ) & an emerging concert artist, performing Concert & Oratorio work with organizations such as Opera Ebony, DC Strings Workshop, Brooklyn Ecumenical, South East Queens Ecumenical, Three on 3, CAAPA, NANM, and Harlem Opera Theater, amongst others. Last spring, Daniel completed a cultural/musical exchange in the form of a recital in both Pinar Del Rio & Havana, Cuba. Oratorio & Concert credits include works such as Handel’s Messiah, Dubois’ The 7 Last Words of Christ, Faure’s Requiem, Vaughan-Williams’Serenade to Music, Mozart’s Mass in C minor, Duke Ellington’s Sacred Concerts, Beethoven’s 9th Symphony & Fantasia in C minor. Daniel is a winner of the 2016 Harlem Opera Theater Vocal Competition, The 2018 Mario Lanza Institute Vocal Competition and The B-Sharp Chapter of NANM’s 2019 Marian Anderson Vocal Competition. Daniel recently made his Carnegie Hall debut as a soloist in Vaughan-Williams’ Serenade to Music under the baton of Maestro Leonard Slatkin for the MSM Centennial Gala. He also recently portrayed Parson Alltalk in Joplin’s Treemonisha with Trilogy an Opera Company. This October, Daniel will make his debut for Bare Opera as Masetto in Mozart’s Don Giovanni. He was the 2018-2019 recipient of the Edgar Foster Daniels Scholarship in Voice at MSM. Daniel is an alumnus of Morgan State University, where he earned a Bachelors Degree in Music (May 2017) and studied, respectively, with Vincent Stringer and Marquita Lister. He is a graduate of the Manhattan School of Music, where he earned his Master of Music degree (May 2019) and studied in the voice studio of Mr. Mark Oswald.
