Imani Mchunu - Soprano, Adina Understudy
Imani Mchunu, soprano, is a native New Yorker and most recently performed Laetitia in The Old Maid & the Thief with Opera MODO. Other notable performances include Emmie in Albert Herring, Papagena in Die Zauberflöte, Elsie Maynard in the Yeomen of the Guard, Patience by Gilbert & Sullivan, and Zerlina in Don Giovanni where her voice was described as “Pure and Focused” by the Ann Arbor Observer. While a student at the University of Michigan, Imani was invited to perform in “Scenes from Don Giovanni” at the Kennedy Center for Performing Arts, and later premiered Princess Cocachin in The Red Silk Thread by Stella Sung. Upon graduating, Imani made her debut at Laeiszhalle Music Hall in collaboration with the Hamburg Police Choir while studying with Reri Grist in Hamburg, Germany in 2015. Imani is a recipient of the Thomas Wiese Sponsorship from the Meisterkurs für Liedgesang in Husum, Germany.
