Carey Harrison- Playwright and Novelist

Carey is a novelist, librettist, dramatist and celebrated orator. With close to 200 plays, scripts and an opera Harrison is also a professor of English at the City University of New York and Artistic Director of the Woodstock Players Theater Company. He sometimes appears on stage for the company, following in the footsteps of his distinguished actor father, Sir Rex. His adaptation of Frances Hodgson Burnett’s The Secret Garden, with music by Nolan Gasser, commissioned by the San Francisco Opera House, opened in San Francisco on March 1st 2013, to sold-out audiences. A Blu-ray DVD from Naxos is contracted and further productions are planned. June 2013 sees his two latest plays, Rex & Rex and I Won’t Bite You: an Interview with the Notorious Monster, Dorothea Farber, in repertoire at the Byrdcliffe Theater.
